“TRANSFORMING SUFFERING THROUGH THE WISDOM OF OUR WOUNDED HEART"
Adriana Cavina
March 25th, 2pm at VISION Quest Book Store
2225 North Scottsdale Road
Scottsdale, Arizona
Through the many stories of our lives we all experience many losses and the painful emotions of grief, fear, anger, shame, guilt, despair. Society and religions often shy away from addressing both the light and shadows that characterize human life. Emotional suffering takes many faces;
we will follow the guidance of authors and seekers who have showed us that we can learn how to avoid suppressing the pain and instead use those same emotions as wisdom guides to help us grow spiritually stronger and more compassionate and caring towards ourselves and others.
Adriana Cavina, DMin, MA, MDiv, is an Italian born author, lecturer and educator. Currently, she directs the Spiritual Care Services and the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Banner Good Samaritan, a large Level 1 Trauma medical center in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. A veritable spiritual seeker, for 30 years she has studied and practiced meditation and analytical inquiry in the mystical and esoteric paths of Christianity, Buddhism and Sufism. A trained spiritual director, she brings her experience with human suffering, death and dying to help others live their lives with wisdom and compassion.

THE HABIT OF DYING
Tim Boyd, President of The Theosophical Society in America
April 29th, 2pm at VISION Quest Book Store
2225 North Scottsdale Road
Scottsdale, Arizona
A central fact of life is that all living things experience death. For the reincarnating being, the experience of death is something that has been repeated countless times. Why then is this common experience so widely misunderstood and feared? The wisdom traditions of the world have long taught means for transforming the ordinary experience of dying into an extraordinary catalyst for spiritual growth. In this talk we will discuss the nature of death and some of the teachings for "practicing dying" while still alive.
Tim Boyd is the President of the Theosophical Society in America. He co-produced, narrated and conducted interviews for the Eternal Quest radio series, broadcast on stations in the U.S and Canada. Tim is a founding member of a spiritual community that was active for more than 25 years. It was situated in Chicago’s inner city in what had been a deteriorating urban area. The group worked with at-risk youth, established organic food gardens on vacant lots, purchased and renovated numerous buildings in the area, and placed beehives on the roofs of buildings. Tim has lectured and conducted workshops throughout the U.S and in Asia. He is also the past President of the Theosophical Order of Service, the service arm of the Theosophical Society.
